General information

As of version 2.1 Mapit enables integration with ArcGIS, which makes it possible to:

  • Display ArcGIS layers on the map
  • Issue creation for the selected ArcGIS object
  • Search ArcGIS objects

On this page:

Access to ArcGIS data

Learn more about sharing ArcGIS data sources in the Mapit Administrator's Guide documentation or ask your JIRA administrator.

Display ArcGIS layers

You can access the ArcGIS data sources provided by the JIRA administrator in the Mapit menu in the ArcGIS section.

ArcGIS layers are grouped according to data sources provided by the JIRA administrator.

Turn on / off the ArcGIS layers that you want to show / hide on the map.

By clicking the ArcGIS object on the map - you'll get a popup containing:

  • Attributes of the selected ArcGIS object
  • Position
  • Link to create an issue in the selected position

Issue creation

Press the Create issue link in the Popup pane of the ArcGIS object, select Project, IssueType and then press the Next link.

Search objects

Searching for ArcGIS objects will be possible when you click link iconfor the available layer in the Mapit menu.

Pressing the link icon will open a search panel with columns adequate for the selected layer. Type in your serach key. Wildcards are allowed.

By pressing the All selected button you can only select the columns you are interested in.

Pressing the search button you will be redirected to the found object - for which a popup will open.

Of course, it may happen that you get many results, then select the object you are interested in from the list.

In case the searched object was not found - you will also be informed.

Map legend

In the lower right corner of the mapit there is a legend containing visual explanation of the symbols used on the map to represent the ArcGIS objects for the selected layers.

If you click on the legend, it will be replaced with a smaller icon, that won't cover to much of the map.  You can click on it again to display the visual explenations again.

Zoom levels

There is an option in Mapit settings to limit ArcGIS data to certain zoom levels.

If your JIRA administrator has set this, you will only see ArcGIS information on the map if your zoom level is within the settings.  Try zooming in if you do not see the information you were expecting.

God luck!
